Outdrive Adjustments?

I bought my first boat recently and am still
geting comfortable with operations. I have
6 buttons to adjust the outdrives on my boat
they say "IN, UP/OUT, UP" my question is
what are these adjustments for?... I have trim
tabs on the boat and have been using those
for adjustments.
