Default I think I'm smarter than just about anybody else . . .

The Cruiser's forum wasn't able to figure it out but
after reading it and thinking about it for an hour
or two, I figured it out.

I managed to connect using the HP Stream 8 Windows 8.1
tablet and the little TCP utility that was recommended
in the Cruisers forum which I had already installed a
couple days ago from reading other forums where nobody
else managed to connect either.

The secret is turning off all other radios in the
tablet. Mine has mobile broadband, wi-fi, bluetooth
and GNSS (GPS)

Then turn on ONLY the GNSS after opening the TCP
utility. It takes a minute to a minute and a half
for it to *initialize* but it does finally connect
to the GNSS and gets an accurate position.

I had already configured the connection properly
in OpenCPN so when I opened OpenCPN it took only
about a second to start using the internal GPS via
the TCP utility.

THIS is just what I suspected. There is non
communication between the GNSS implemented GPS and
the OpenCPN program. All OpenCPN coders need to
do is get permission from the folks who created
the TCP utility and incorporate it into OpenCPN.

Problem solved.

Boy, I'm good!

Poor Bruce! Left in the dust again. hee hee heeeeee!
