Default Homebuilt power cat?

A few days ago I was at the beach in Asbury Park, NJ and saw what
appeared to be a homebuilt power cat heading south along the coast. On
a hunch I headed down to Manasquan inlet and sure enough it came in to
the inlet.....probably heading south via intracoastal waterway for the
winter. I estimate it was approx 30 ft. long and did not look like any
commercially made cat I know of. Looking thru binoculars I saw it had
a wheelhouse like an old fashioned tug and a a box shaped cabin behind
the wheelhouse....had ME (Maine?) registration numbers but I wasn't
thinking fast enough or I would have made a note of the numbers. I
took a short video with my cell phone camera and posted it on You
Tube...(put "power cat in Manasquan inlet" in search box) .....not
very clear and
detailed but good enough to get an idea what it looks like. Anyone
have any info or comments? Thanks.
