Default Lip seals

I have a Johnson Pump F7B-9 (10-24394-1). A raw water pump for my Volvo
.. It has two 'lip seals' in it. Which way do they go in? I wasn't there
when they took them out.

Any ideas??

I would go to jabscoshop.

You will find a complete exploded diagram of your pump there.

I think it is in the Dr Watson section.

p.s jabsco and johnson pumps use the same parts.

If I was you I would ask either the counterman at a parts house, or
most any mechanic.

In a comparable situation with an inboard/outboard, I noticed the lip
seals were arranged to close the lip in the direction of greater
pressure, or undesired liquid flow.
* But I have seen advice that where there is space for several stacked
lip seals, one could place at least one facing both possible flow
directions.

The rule is the pressure side is on the spring side allowing the pressure
difference to add sealing force on the lip.
