What is the right procedure when you find a kink in a two years old 5/16” OD forestay? Would you replace the forestay or challenge it? Depends on what kind of sailing you do. Ask any rigging guy and they would say replace it. Its cheep in boat bucks and one less thing that will take your mind off your operator responsibilities. Or....................... probably only reduced strength by 50%-70%. Make your own calculatoins and sail accordingly. I would think the deck fastener would fail/rip out before the stay would part. bob |
