Replace it *is my vote - a kink is weakening - and 5/16 in wire is for a
big 45 ft + mast I take it.

A "kink", how? How did you never notice it before, or is it new?
Still, I'd replace it. If it is really close to either end, you might
consider cutting it out and putting in a short piece using sta-lok
terminals but replacement is prob easier.
