Sheila Bair was among those mentioned by the Great Mentioner as possible candidates for Treasury Secretary in the Obama administration. I suspect her little adventure with Wachovia put the damper on that. During the Bush administration? Yep. Permanent beltway fixtures don't much care which party won the election as long as it doesn't throw them out of work. I wonder if you guys ever got "Yes Minister" down there in 'merica. Cheers Martin Oh, yes, we get lots of "Britcoms." Used to have to see them on PBS (Public Broadcasting), but now with satellite TV we can watch them on BBC America. Been ages since I've seen "Yes Minister," or "Yes Prime Minister," though. |

I've been serving Her Majesty for thirty years, the show is not that far of, the real power lies with Assistant Deputy Ministers, folks that generally remain when the Government changes. These are the people who cna make or break a Deputy Minsister...... somewhat like a good RSM, the real God on any base. Cheers Martin |
