Wachovia put the damper on that.

During the Bush administration?

Yep. Permanent beltway fixtures don't much care which party won the election
as long as it doesn't throw them out of work.

I wonder if you guys ever got "Yes Minister" down there in 'merica.

Cheers

Oh, yes, we get lots of "Britcoms." Used to have to see them on PBS (Public
Broadcasting), but now with satellite TV we can watch them on BBC America.
Been ages since I've seen "Yes Minister," or "Yes Prime Minister," though.

I've been serving Her Majesty for thirty years, the show is not that
far of, the real power lies with Assistant Deputy Ministers, folks that
generally remain when the Government changes. These are the people who
cna make or break a Deputy Minsister...... somewhat like a good RSM,
the real God on any base.

I always liked that show as a kid. It got me interested in Scuba... I
still do that from time to time.

I liked Sea Hunt, Flipper, and anything else that had boats in it. But
my favorite was Diver Dan. Loved the gangster fish that had a ciggie
hanging out of his mouth. Did Diver Dan get his boot stuck in a giant
clam in nearly every episode, or is it just that it made such an
impression on my toddler brain?

I used to watch that show before I took the bus to my grade school. I
think you're about right. I loved that show too. There was a big
barracuda. Was that the gangster fish?

Ya, the barracuda and his sidekick/henchman -- a trigger fish, I think.

Heh.. that's it.

I don't believe that they could be classified as permanent... I seem to
recall Williams from a 60 Minutes show? She seemed pretty good.

Ya, they can't be permanent -- they'll die of something, sooner or later.

As do we all... are you wishing they die sooner vs. later?

All things return to God in the fullness of time, Insh'allah. No point in
wishing for things to hurry, but I can wish they were out of government.

My basic guideline is that anyone who wants power over others is unsuitable
to hold such power.

Sort of the Woody Allen argument... I don't want to belong to a club that
would have me as a member.
