Hi
I have owned a swede 38 for the past 2 years. Itīs a great boat that sails well. This year our summer vacation went from Copenhagen to Oslo and back. Part of the trip I sailed the boat my self, part of the trip I was joined by my wife and two daughters (aged 9) and part of the trip the four of us was joined by my brother in law and his two daugthers. Last year the engine blew up, so I had a new yanmar 2gm20fc fitted. This winter I am going to change the rudderbearings due to wear. Other than that I havenīt had any serious problems. I read about a chap that took his sweede from Denmark to the Crribian and back. He had to change two of the hatches, as they where leaking, and he had the check stays fitted, as the mast had a tendency tho "pump" back and forth if there was a really big swell. I have seen Swedes being sold at prices ranging from 42-50.000 Ģ depending on condition and equipment. Personally I wouldnīt hessitate sailing the boat from spain to the UK, as long as you have all the vitals checked thoroughly before leaving/buing. Sincerely Yours Carsten |
