Folks, this newsgroup is rec.boats.cruising, not alt.politics.*.
Personally I've pretty much given up reading this group due to it's poor
signal to noise ratio. Many of those people who regularly chastise posts
which contain "spam" should look into the mirror and apply the same set of
rules to these completely off-topic discussions.

If you want to discuss politics, please take the discussion to an
appropriate newsgroup.

You're right on Geoff! This forum is now about useless, thanks to
Wilbur, his numerous sock puppets and others like him, who exist tied
to a dock, dreaming of doing what many of us are doing, and spewing
**** trying to make themselves feel important. They are mostly
cowards, posting thru remailers, fearing to reveal themselves.

So clueless.

Here are the facts. If this group is dying it's because people like yourself
post just as off-topic as any troll you complain about.

What makes any newsgroup useless is people who sit back and rarely, if ever,
contribute any topical material that creates on-topic discussion. If you
want something done try doing it yourself.

If there were as few as 20 people here posting on topic it would go a long
way towards making the group more viable. Are you going to be one of them
from time to time or are you just going to bitch?

It would suffice to properly name the threads. Then the boaters can
ignore the politics, motocross, golf, whatever. If people would rename
the threads when they drift, it wouldn't matter what they post.
