1) is there a FAQ for this group?

and specifically

2) is there an on-line resource out there that would show me how to
drill "shaft alley" for an inboard motor through the skeg of a boat and
keep it straight?

If there's a FAQ, I don't know about it.

For drilling a shaft alley, you might see Chapelle's "Wooden Boatbuilding."
I think he's the one that shows a drill with the looong bit guided at the
proper angle with a framework and with an assistant holding his palms on
either side of the deadwood to feel which side is closer to the bit.
Tricky.

Probably easier to build up the deadwood while leaving the alley open.
