Default Refinish fiberglass?

Have just migrated from tin to glass, and gone from 0 maintenance to a bit
of a project. It is a mid 70's vintage fiberglass I/O hardtop.

There are a number of small drilled holes from loose, removed and/or
relocated deck hardware which I wish to fill. Bondo, cloth, resin and tint?
The topsides are faded and chalky. Can they be painted with a thin coat of
clear ployester resin? Would UV quickly break it down?

How about drilled holes in otherwise sound transom? Grind & fill with poly
and fibre, then apply some sort of gel top coat?

Or is it best to patch everything with epoxy, then use some sort of high-end
paint system to refinish?

Lots of questions, but I'd rather not start off in the wrong direction.
Thanks for any and all advice.
