a local couple on a paddling and hiking vacation came across an old boat
in the woods which, unkown to them, was just a few strokes and steps from one of the Watt 1860's homesteads in Haliburton Co of Ontario where my old man lived as a boy. It reminded them of my boat designs so they took a photo witb one of those new-fangled digital cameras and posted it on their website. I see it as archaeological evidence that designing functional yet attractive watercraft is a genetic trait. There are tons of kinfolk in the area and who knows but maybe Ted Moores who began building his stripper canoes locally shares the same gene. Then again maybe not. the photo is at http://www.wellar.ca/gokayaking/pics.../boatfhike.jpg but its less work just to type in up to /pics/ and use the mouse pointer to select the last two. -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ William R Watt National Capital FreeNet Ottawa's free community network homepage: www.ncf.ca/~ag384/top.htm warning: non-freenet email must have "notspam" in subject or it's returned |
