Sir..I won't back off..I'm not a flamer. He started the whole thing by
flaming me. All I did was post another NON-COMMERCIAL site in
appreciation for those who had given me helpful suggestions earlier in
the week.. I resent the fact that you call me THE FLAMER. I was warned
before that Jacko is the ruler of the roost in this news group. I get
tired of him and his attitude, his constant sales pitches, etc. If I
offended you I apologize. But I am not a flamer. Just attempted to do
something nice for people that had helped me. Mike

Virtualy every group has someone who thinks he is the only valid opinion.
A growing number have found a better way of comunicating .....We watch these
newsgroups with little more than mild interest.
if real and usefull interaction of Adults is wahat you want.... Dont bother
with newsgroups.

Chill out. I went back and read Jacques response to your original post. It
was not particularly inflamatory. It seemed he was offended that your post
seemed to indicate some less than wonderful quality about proffessional boat
builders. He just posted a different view point. That is to the general
benefit of usenet. The opportunity to read different view points. You
don't have to agree.

It just seems to me that he blew your original post out of proportion a
little bit, and then because he present a view point that was not consistant
with yours that you got offended.

As to your comments about making a post with links to sites. That was over
the top just a little bit. Nobody in any of the posts I read said, "don't
post links to websites." In fact I have seen hundreds of links to websites
both commercial and non commercial posted here with nobody ever commenting
that it was inappropriate. In general in usenet it is inappropriate to make
post for the sole purpose of advertising a commercial website, but usenet
still exists because of the internet. It would be silly to ban posting
URLs. LOL!

I'm not defending Jacques. As anybody who remembers can tell you my first
public comments about him were less than stellar, but he is an accomplished
builder and he has more than a little share of pride in his abilities.

Thanks Bob and fortunately that little flame war ended with some sense of
humor.
One more thing is to explain why you and I use a link instead of an email
address in the signature.
It is not only to promote our sites but to limit spam.
Robots search the Usenet for email addresses and use them for spam.
At our web site, we use, as much as possible, hidden emaill adresses with a
javascript or PHP.
