Has anyone built either of these boats. I'm thinking of a smallish
boat that is easily trailable, shoal draft, and primarily daysailed in the waters of tampa bay with occasional overnight for my wife and I. The questions I have a 1. Is the cabin on Nancy's China of any use on a boat this small or is it taking up space. 2. I've heard much about Nancy's China (and have Devlin's book) but nobody has ever written about it's sailing ability or functionality. 3. I have the plans for the Core Sound 17 but really prefer a cabin to store thing and when necessary, get out of the rain. Would a small cabin on this boat be useful or am I'm I just wanting too much out of a day sailer and should move up to a 12-20'boat? Thanks for any comments. |

There was a Scandinavian guy who'd built one and had a writeup on a Web site. Might still exist. Do a Google search on Nancys China, see what you find. Personally I think 15' is a bit on the small side for overnighting in but then I like my comforts. PDW |

I built a Core Sound 17 and have sailed it in Tampa Bay. I sold it a
few years ago and miss it. It's a wonderful boat. I had a bimini top-type tent cabin built for it and it was very roomy for overnighting. Try http://www.smallsailboats.co.uk/logs/log/gordy.htm Also, Graham Byrnes, the designer, won the Everglades Challange this year sailing from Mullet Key to Key Largo in less than three days.
