My 1st Minicup is 9 months old now and is well used. She is showing
her age and use though. During a day of sailing, she was taking on water slowly so when i got her home looked closely. Serious defects in the bathroom underlayment I used for her. I will have to cover about 9 ft2 with glass to solve the prob. I would still use this underlament for the sides and bulkheads but would use marine ply for the bottom. The "Gorilla Glue" is a definite no-no as it seems to allow water to penetrate. Fortunately, I switched to epoxy for most of the project but this will necessitate some major repairs. My visqueen sails have held up very well and I expect to get a full years use out of them. I have had to apply a hot iron to the seams to tack them together but that is easy. |
