wrote this crap: All, I have a Catalina 310 and want to mount a spinnaker pole ring. A car appears to be out of the question as I have an electrical track that runs up the front of the mast. I have a Forespar pole ring that I can mount to the mast. One suggestion I got for mounting height was to put it at eye level. For most of the time it would be used to pole out my genoa (I have a 135) with occasional flying of a spinnaker. Ideas on height? A spinnaker pole is kind of heavy to use on a genoa. Consider a whisker pole for the genoa, and a spinnaker pole for a spinnaker. Anyway, you'll need two different heights, therefore two rings. Unroll, or hoist the genoa, and put the pole on it and push it out. Keep it level, and mark where it should go on the mast. When using the pole, it should be level. I'm Horvath and I approve of this post. |
