Did you get SeaTow to haul you back to the dock, or Tow-boats US? The beauty of working with my club is that I made a quick call and they brought us to the travel lift using the service boat. RB 35s5 NY Yeah that sounds nice.. We do not have that service here, unless you call a friend. Don't feel to bad, I've bent so many shafts and propellors the owner of one boat named his beach house the Broken Wheel Ranch and hung all my bent props around the place.. If you have exposed shafts, struts and props thats going to happen if you use the boat. Joe |

I bent the shaft, broke the strut, and tore several big ass holes in a nice shrimp net. I refer to that night as the night we caught thoses shrimp worth about 400 dollars each. Joe |

Wrong agaiin, Martin. I spoke to the folks at Drivesaver Sure you did Bob, whatever you say Bob.... Spoke to Mark over there, Martin. You're welcome to call him up and check up on it, hear what he has to say. I've sold 4 of the Drivesavers thus far and the breakaway point CAN save a shaft from damage, especially when fouling lines. Period. Call and talk to them about it. Do you want me to explain EXACTLY how the drivesaver can save a sailboat shaft? My guess is that even YOU will be able to understand the physics. Dang, you've knocked the BS meter right of the scale and bent its' pointer! Go ahead explain away. Cheers Marty |

I've been towed once in 13 years so you're way ahead! Now how many times have you supplied a tow? I've done it at least once per season, usually for other sailboats and a couple of Jetskis. RB 35s5 NY Ohh. Many many times. My favorite was returning one year after racing in the LYC Harvest Moon Regetta. We took the ICW back along with many others. After crossing Aransas bay a P- 30 type boat got out of the channel and ran aground near Blackjack point. They had a crew of two couples, none of the other fin boats could get close enough to tow them. We dropped the sails, pulled up the board and were able to get within monkey's fist range of them. The girls were crying loudly in the bkdg on the radio as they were in a massive swarm of mosquitos. We yanked them back into the channel without a problem. I carry a 200ft 2" poly pro line with thimbles for just that porpose. They were very grateful to say the least. Joe |

Flimsy propeller shaft not properly supported! What did you hit? A submerged clorox bottle? Run over your own dock line? Mooooo-hoooo-haaa-haaaa!!!!!!!!!!!! Of course he could not sail back to the dock. He doesn't know how to sail! Perhaps if he did, he would not have snagged his dinghy painter. |

I hope he didn't accept money for the tow. -- "j" ganz @@ www.sailnow.com |
