Default What's with the anonymous posts and slander?

I don't know about the rest of you but these anonymous posts that slam
Capt. JG are unacceptable. How dare somebody slander a fine, honest,
upstanding, hard working USCG Merchant Marine Officer and not have to
suffer the consequences!

This anonymous poster is a big coward. If he had any real conviction he
would post with a legitimate e-mail where he could be traced so he could
suffer the consequences for his actions. Personally, I'd like to punch
him right in the nose. Maybe that'd make him keep his nose out of other
people's business.

People shouldn't be able to get away scott free with this kind of
personal abuse. Finding some old posts from way back in 1992 and
repeating them over and over again. What does it prove? Even if it's the
same person as our Capt. JG maybe he's already paid his debt to society.
Maybe he's sorry about the things he did in his younger days. We all did
some pretty stupid things when we were young and naive. How long should
somebody have to pay for their past transgressions?

I think we all need to forgive and forget. Even President Clinton
admitted to smoking pot. And, President Bush is a recovering alcoholic.
If people like these can break the law and still be President, what's
wrong with a Captain who experimented wholesale with illegal
recreational drugs about fifteen years ago? Surely there's a statute of
limitations that applies.

I say it's none of the public's business what a Captain they might hire
did fifteen years ago. The public has no right to know. They don't need
to know whose hands they are putting the lives of their children in.
We've got to trust the Coast Guard. They would never issue a license to
somebody who currently uses drugs. They even give periodic random drug
tests to make sure their people are clean. That should be good enough
for the public. And, I wouldn't worry about LSD flashbacks either. I
don't think anybody has them fifteen years later. Put your trust in the
government. The government can do no wrong.
