![]() wrote in message oups.com... I am trying to negotiate a price for a used sailboat. Is it appropriate to offer 10% below what they are asking? First time for this - don't want to offend the seller, but also want to make the best deal for myself. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks...Cate Ya gotta low-ball the *******s! Offer half what they're asking. Don't worry about insulting them. Make sure you have cash money in hand. No payments or any of that other crap. Greenbacks! If the dude balks then ask him what his lowest counter offer is. In other words haggle. Act like you love the boat but just can't afford much more than you're offering. Act like you're gonna cry if you don't get it cheap. Use your feminine wiles. Good luck! Wilbur Hubbard |
