Which is superior, an aft cabin or an aft berth?
It appears the C&C 99 has only an aft berth, not a cabin. Doesn't the Mac26x also have an aft berth? The C&C 99 interior doesn't look like it has won many awards, especially from MOMA. However, it is much, much, much faster than a 35s5. Much faster. Even special sails won't help the 35s5 against the 99. If I was to get a fast cruising day sailor, I'd pick the 99 over the 35s5. The 35s5 lugs around too much marble, bulkheads, has a small cockpit and is tilted too much to comfort to be that fast. C&C 99 is much more fun! And faster!! I would want to live real close to it so I could sail it everyday! I could see living far away from a slug like the 35s5. One wouldn't have to think about it all the time, especially how slow it is compared to the 99. 99 - better than 35s5!! It's like Hagen Daas versus Carvel. Guess who has got Carvel - with all the sprinkles no less! Bwahaahaahaaahaahaaahaahahahahahaaha!!!! |

I can't speak for either of those boat models since I've never been on either one but we have had both aft cabin and aft berth types of sleeping arrangemnts...the aft cabin is the better solsution. The person assigned to that berth has some privacy and the berth is usually more roomy than just an aft berth...in cold weather is easier to shut off the aft berth to heat the main salon while with just an aft berth that area remains open making more area to heat...same thing regarding AC in summer if that's a concern...also aft cabin can also be used for "out of sight" storage instead of just having stuff piled on a berth in the main salon... |

I was trying to trun bait into a reasonable sailing discussion on a question that does have merit....BS doesn't need to be baited..he comes up with enough crap all on his own... |

Wrong. Doesn't the Mac26x also have an aft berth? Yep. However, it is much, much, much faster than a 35s5. Much faster. Even special sails won't help the 35s5 against the 99. Yep, the 99 is VERY fast making the 35s5 look more like a cruiser by comparison. If I was to get a fast cruising day sailor, I'd pick the 99 over the 35s5. Me too! The 35s5 lugs around too much marble, bulkheads, has a small cockpit There is no marble in the special order light teak interiors and the 99 has the same bulkheads and a cockpit that's the same size. C&C 99 is much more fun! And faster!! I agree on the face of it. I'll get back to you after our test sail. I would want to live real close to it so I could sail it everyday! Real close to the city again? Nah. I don't mind the drive. 99 - better than 35s5!! Yep, glad to hear you admit this. It will play well down the road. RB 35s5...for now! NY |

It's great that we both agree the C&C 99 is vastly superior to your current
boat. Plus it is much, much more fun! I think it would make a great boat for you and I hope you get one sooner rather than later. Until then, don't let that little bit of misery get to you when you sail on your second tier 35s5. It's still a pretty good boat, but not that good. Hopefully there will be a greater fool when times comes to sell. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bigger_fool_theory Glory! |

We are looking seriously at one, however. They come about as close to the perfect boat, IMO, as any other in the size range. We'll keep you posted. Max |

They've honored that agreement, AFAIK. Max |
