This looks like real sailing http://www.actadvantage.org/Newslett...r06/HomerCatbo... However "breezing up" just does not look right http://www.birdsnest.com/images/breezing_up.jpg See what I mean? And breezing up is worth 5X's Catboat. Joe Looks like the former is a crude watercolor of the latter. But neither are cat boats as neither are gaff-rigged. Looks like Breezing Up has a sprit sail and it looks like Homercatboat deleted it and tried to make it look like a big jib. . . I think you might have gotten either the pictures or your descriptions backwards as it looks to me like Breezing Up is more realistically portrayed. Wilbur Hubbard Crude? Haa! Simple maybe, but not crude. Is this crude? http://www.nga.gov/feature/homer/72/...16-keywest.jpg Same anchorage that " Cut the Cheese" is moored. That looks like a Bahamas-built hull. Probably from the Albury shipyards on Green Turtle cay. But the rig is all wrong. Bahamas boats are all sloops with very long booms and not ketch-rigged. So that picture is probably of a Jamaican boat. Note the "Darkies" aboard. Wilbur Hubbard. |
