The writer says somehow when she was on watch the boat got blown off
course. How does that happen?

Eight feet is nothing. We occasionally have 5-6' chop. It would be big for a
20' boat, but not that bad. I haven't been following the "pig" thread, but
I'm betting there's a lot more to it.
