We're still well below average and there are gale warnings on the Bay
and out on the Atlantic...wish this weather would moderate so we could
get some sailing in..I know Mundo goes out in this but I turn blue when
it's below 45F...but I shouldn't complain...I could be back in Michigan

Let the record show that there was at least three different St. Valentines. The most popular one
was from England and France in the middle ages.

From Chaucer's Parliament of Foules:
"For this was sent on Seynt Valentyne's day
Whan every foul cometh ther to choose his mate."

It began with birds mating and transmogrified to human lovers. Totally pagan stuff BTW.

I'll take my foul on the grill with a baked potato wrapped in tin foil. Join me at Ted's
of Beverly Hills. Your meal comes with a complimentary alcohol drink!

I'm Ted Bell!

Sub zero temperatures should not have bothered them unless it was a weak
colony to start with or you took their summer honey and neglected to feed
them sugar solution as a substitute. Bees are warm and cluster together in
the hive in a cluster about the size and shape of an (oval) football. The
colder it gets the tighter they cluster to maintain a temperature of about
90 degrees in the middle of the cluster. They rotate the ones on the outside
to give them a chance to come into the warm.
But you also have to keep the hive ventilated so you must not let it get
buried in snow.

A recent study concluded you have a 30% less chance of a heart attack
if you take a nap daily. I loved working in the bay of De Campache and
the town of Carmen. Siesta, from 14:00 to 16:00 the whole town shut
down.... but people then worked to 19:00. Still remember our Pemex
agent getting grub for the boat. He had a beef hide quarter delivered
by donkey cart that was still twitching, and the chickens were mucho
fresho in cages. Best bread tortillas on earth, they still had little
adobe ovens all over town that baked all day. Town square dances every
Friday and Saturday night. lush jungle, great easy going people.

BTW Scotty likes plowing snow, that why he lives in Plowsville...job
security.

Here too, the whole town shuts down for siesta. In my opinion it's a
great way to live. It's no wonder the locals are all so happy and
easy going.

Recently, we were riding into town on the water taxi and our driver
