Out behind the house, but the bees all died in the
subzero temps recently.

Sub zero temperatures should not have bothered them
unless it was a weak
colony to start with or you took their summer honey and
neglected to feed
them sugar solution as a substitute. Bees are warm and
cluster together in
the hive in a cluster about the size and shape of an
(oval) football. The
colder it gets the tighter they cluster to maintain a
temperature of about
90 degrees in the middle of the cluster. They rotate the
ones on the outside
to give them a chance to come into the warm.
But you also have to keep the hive ventilated so you must
not let it get
buried in snow.

I don't have bees, Edgar. T'was a humorous response to
an inane question.

Max

He deos have ants in his pants, though...

Maybe it's hives...

Thanks Jon. I had a great Valentines Day. Mike and I

spent the day

by the pool drinking pina coladas then we treated

ourselves to dinner

at a fancy new restaurant in town. It was a bit pricey

but worth

every penny.

Well that's just peachy, Barb. You know what I did?
Plowed
snow for 6.5 hours, in wind chills of - 15*.
I'm so glad for you...and Mike.

Didn't your Honey warm you up after?!

Nothing like the smell of cold, wet dog...

Max's bees aren't the only ones missing. There's an epidemic of missing bees
all over the country. They fly outta the hive one day and lots don't come back.
Pretty soon the hive's all empty. I heard it on Coast to Coast with George Noore.
He had a bee scientist on the show and the scientist said even scientists don't
know what's happening.
It's called colony collapse disorder. http://aginfo.psu.edu/news/07Jan/HoneyBees.htm

Cheers,
Ellen

Friday and Saturday night. lush jungle, great easy going people.

Here too, the whole town shuts down for siesta. In my opinion it's a
great way to live. It's no wonder the locals are all so happy and
easy going.

Did you see that recent medical study that concluded that people who take
a daytime nap at least twice a week are 37% less likely to suffer a heart
attack? You folks down there will probably live forever.

Max

Mr Sails takes naps but I don't..if I sleep during the day I can't sleep
at night...and I never sleep past 7 hours unless I'm sick...guess I'm
doomed...

Perhaps Mr. Sails' next wife will be a nap-taker. :-)
