For anyone else who's got a POS sail like that, You *can* fix it as I described but you'd have to be a moron to want to. *Far* easier to earn minimum wage cleaning truck stop urinals untill you've saved enough to buy a new one. I'd only consider it if we were dismasted and drifting and it and the spinny pole were our only hope of making a *distant* landfall, then I'd say *no* *way* and settle for ropeing the luff with some kevlar cord (I always keep some on board) or a length of Vectran then using it *as* *is*. -- Ian Malcolm.
