Bush pushes abstinence on World AIDS Day
10:20 AM December 2

The US President George W Bush has marked World AIDS Day by promoting
abstinence.

In a statement, Mr Bush says abstinence is "the only sure way" to
avoid the spread of the HIV virus that causes AIDS.

He has also met at the White House with groups involved in dealing
with the disease, pledging America's commitment to fighting AIDS.

"The pandemic of HIV AIDS can be defeated and the United States is
willing to take the lead in that fight," he said.

The United Nations says in the 25 years since AIDS was first detected,
it has killed 25 million people and infected 40 million more.
Source: ABC

Still AIDS is killing more people than George...so far.

Why do you laugh? DId you know that the greatest risk in the US is for
young black women in heterosexual relationships? That's also where the
most out-of-wedlock baby [rpdiction is....So abstinence is a good mesage
too preach since birth control won't do anything about AIDS (except for
condoms and that's as rosky as using them for preganancy). I don't
believe he's denying that medocal research ahs to proceed to help find a
cure. He's just stating that abstinence would slow down an increase of
the disease in the population. SOmetimes your vynacism is galling, OZ.

Ahhh the good Catholic girl...God forbid that they'd use condoms.

So you're saying controlling physical irges in order to not sibject
yourself to the possibility of either an unwanted pregnancy or a
horrible disease isn't worth it? There are plenty others than
Catholics who are preaching abstinence these days.

George is Catholic?

Finally something we can agree on. Abstinence is a good start but how about
fidelity if you can't or don't want to abstain. If two people get tested before they
have sex and if they're HIV negative then they can have all the safe sex they want

I guess, since abstinence will eliminate the threat of AIDS it would be okay for
people with AIDS to resume donating blood? Working in food preparation? School
nurses?

That's a start. But how's about going out of the river into the ocean. You don't
have to worry about it being too shallow in the ocean.

Or how about that there's a parade of lights thingy that Hatteras sponsors that everyone decorates their boats for?

That's boring. Lighted boat parades are dumb. Leave it to motor boaters to think of
that sort of thing.

Or that my boat is, and always has been, better than yours.

My boat only draws two feet. I don't have to worry about how shallow it is in the
Neuse Tiver :-) or any other river. So when you say your boat's better I can ask better
for what? I can sail in shallows without worrying. It sounds like you have to worry.
That can't be fun.....
Tell us about that little harbor in Okracoke near the lighthouse. Can you still go in there
and tie up to the docks? Is the beach up to the lighthouse yet? What about Cape Lookout. Is
it still nice to sail in that harbor? Have you ever anchored there and seen the sun set over

I think AIDS proves God. A Biblical God. The Bible says homosexuality is one of the serious sins.

On the occasions when this Group gets going on a sailing

thread you will
always find that Katy is one of those who contribute from

personal
experience.

yes, and she has a *LOT* of experience.

Why don't you get a spell checker?

I have wondered the same thing as well...

She's not smart enough to learn how to spell, much less

post on ng's.

But then again... the regulars that hang out here refer

to her
style as "katy type" or whatever.

She does it to **** you off.

I see that it's working.

BwahHahahahahaha

Those who know me personally know where and when we sail...our boat is a great crusising boat..it is comfortable and
easy to handle..we have a dinghy for gunkholing if we want...you can get all the rest of the information about
Ocrakoke off any tourist site on the internet...I have posted out pictures of the lighthouse from last year when we
went so you must have mised them..too bad, so sad...

Lighthouse pictures are all over the place. No big deal, everybody takes them. Your's won't be missed.
Those who know you personally can get your sailing adventures by word of mouth. I'm talking about
people here in alt.sailing.asa who don't know you personally and probably don't want to. Are they supposed
to know about your sailing by osmosis? Isn't local knowledge something good to have and to tell?
I'm starting to think your faking it. Don't let your love life spill over in here, Katy :-)) If you sailed
you'd be ready to talk about it..... You've got a weird attitude. So anal. Your in a sailing news group and
you don't want to post sailing topics. Duh! What's up with that? Selfish? Lazy? No sailing to tell about?
Be honest.....

Cheers,
Ellen
