It's about time... Bush must be crapping in his pants. Now all the rats are
going to abandon ship for his last two years.

The main reason why Rummy hadn't been canned thus far is that by staying
on Bush avoids the inevitable pointed embarrassing questions at the
hearings for his replacement.

With the Dems in control of both houses, hearings are inevitable
regardless. So, might as well toss him overboard like the useless
jetsam that he is.

I mean, is there anybody standing up for him at this point?

Maybe Cheney can take him hunting, now that he has all that spare time
on his hands?

Apparently this was in the works for some time. - If so, and if Bush had
acted a month ago, the Reps would have kept control of the Senate IMO.

Not in the Pentagon or the military.

Certainly possible. One of the things that cost the
Republicans public confidence is not only the long-running
mistakes, but the smug denial that anything is going wrong.

And the lying... now it's come back to bite them in the ass.

Yes, it turns out that it has been in the works for weeks. But that
didn't stop Bush from basically lying about it when asked about it last
week.

My take is that if he didn't have such a casual relationship to honesty
his party could have kept the senate.
