I like Laphroaig, but Lagavulin is somewhat better IMO, especially the older stuff. Islay (pronounced EYE-luh) scotches tend to be peaty and smokey. They are the single-malts that gave scotch the "medicine" moniker than persisted for decades. You either like them or you don't. If you don't, try highland malts for a less dry scotch. I haven't opened it yet... waiting for the right occasion. :-) The right occasion for scotch is anytime you're desirous of something to enhance your life experience, if only a little. Single-malts are like icing on the life cake. That bottle should last a couple of weeks, Jon. Islay malts aren't much good for guzzling with buddies over a 49ers game, albeit I can understand how you might wish to do so. g Max |
