I gotta believe that a smaller filter means lesser capacity for
contaminants. I wonder what the rationale is? Scout "Ringmaster" wrote in message ps.com... For what it's worth I just picked up a new oil filter for my 2GM. I went to do the oil and filter change today and when I opened the new filter it was about 2/3 the size of the old one. I called the dealer to give him grief for selling me the wrong part and he told me Yanmar changed the design. Glad I called it saved me a 50mi round trip. |

I don't know why, but when I Googled Yanmar and 2GM20F I got nothing. http://shop.torresen.com/ships_store...u=119660-35150 Special Note About This Part: This part number is no longer available. Click here for the alternative part number, Yanmar 119305-35151 Since that is in HTML, it will most likely be stripped by my ISP. Try this: http://shop.torresen.com/ships_store...151§ionid= The oil filter you want is no longer available and has been replaced. Click on this link and find your engine: http://www.marinedieseldirect.com/catalogs/ Click on your engine for a wealth of info... Thanks - great site! Scout |

"Jeff" wrote in a spare in the boat. Mack Boring has Yanmar parts. They make a ''spares kit'', there was one in my boat when I got it. You should always carry at least two spare impellers. I put one in two years ago and it failed within ten hours - the vanes spun freely on the hub. I have a new one and a good old one as spares. Frankly I don't see why people buy the parts year by year; why not buy 4 or 5 years worth and always know you have a stash? What if you sell the boat? I buy oil filters by the case for my trucks, had 6 left over when I switched from a Detroit to a Cat. I still have filters for my '71 Dodge van. Anybody need one? Scotty |

When I sell a boat, it comes with a full complement of spares.

Just because it's smaller doesn't mean it won't do the job. At least that's what I've been told all these years. )) |
