If I was shopping for a monohull...
 

I do like cats, but of course, I bought a mono. I just wonder about how
often beaching a boat that size would be practicable... There would be some
gelcoat issues involved I'd imagine.

My centerboard..4.5' up 11' down has a monel tube on the board and 3"
pin that runs thru the trunk. Then it has 1" thick riding chocks in the
trunk to keep it from doing any wobbeling side to side. Plus it's 1"
thick plate steel with close to 40 yrs in the water it looks like it
will last another 100 min.
