If I was shopping for a monohull...

This might be what I'd pick...

If the girls were included I'd buy one tomorrow.

I bet Joe, Doug, and katy will like this one.

Nice interior, layout, features...But it's an ugly hard chined hull.
I'd pass.

$395k

I think it is priced a little bit high. On the other hand
it is just about perfect and ready to go.

I can live with a hard chine.

It's Aluminum not steel also. What is your preference?

The girls are pretty.

Jon, I know you prefer catamarrans in this price range. Still what
do you think of the boat?

I like the fact that it can be beached and the bottom cleaned
without diving, or for paint--like a catamaran. You could bring
along a sander and some extra bottom paint and keep the
hull clean anywhere warm that there was a tide.

Hauling up the centerboard means you could go more places.

I'd like to know how it sails in heavy weather.

One concern I have with centerboards is that they move and if
they move, there is going to be friction and wear.

If I stumble into an extra 500K this is the one i'd buy.

It's certainly not outrageously priced, but it is high.

I do like cats, but of course, I bought a mono. I just wonder about how
often beaching a boat that size would be practicable... There would be some
gelcoat issues involved I'd imagine.

Nice boat, but I'll bet whoever buys it winds up sailing it three or
four times a season, tops.

50' sailboats are status symbols - the point is to have one, not
necessarily to use it.

It works for Capt. Rob but he can only afford a 35-footer....

My centerboard..4.5' up 11' down has a monel tube on the board and 3"
pin that runs thru the trunk. Then it has 1" thick riding chocks in the
trunk to keep it from doing any wobbeling side to side. Plus it's 1"
thick plate steel with close to 40 yrs in the water it looks like it
will last another 100 min.

Nah, just realistic. Everybody knows that there's an inverse
correlation between the size of a boat and how often it sails.

Besides, I don't drink Bud. At least not very often.
