Why stop you? Its pretty obvious that this is not the economical way
to get a boat; you're proposing this only because you want to do it.
So don't look to us for justification!

Sorry, I have no experience in keel carving. As I was reading you
post I was reminded of several incidents I've heard about where boats
were declared totaled because the encapsulated keel was damaged.
Also, my current boat has no ballast.
