Gilly;
You are still leaving the "Useless propeller" header statement unresolved. I'm pretty sure they don't have anything to match THAT MONSTROSITY. I think, not sure, they have a three blade feathering with streamlined tips. My 2 Blade folding has streamlined tips and it out-performs my fixed blade prop in every way but in reverse (But not by very much) I have to pop it in gear and then Neutral; a couple of times until a gain steerage and then it equal to the fixed. BUT__--__ That still doesn't answer the question you created with the "Useless Propeller" heading. I would truly like to know its short coming or if it is operators problems So, please don't change the subject. Give us your reason for calling it Useless. As you can probably can figure I like my Martec very much. I don't usually use my engine when the weather acts up. I reef down to a comfortable ride and control from inside the Pilothouse. I do start the engine at the outer Harbor marker and drop in into gear at a fast idle. This is so I can still maintain control as I drop the main into the Lazy Jacks and furl the head sail. This was what I did when I had a boat. I would like to warn the new ower of any problem I'm not aware of The new owner has both Props but I left the Folder on the shaft and the fixed in the gear locker. By the way; There is no way I'd ever recomend that Monstrosity in your picture. Sail boat Aux. IMHO should be as simple as possible http://community.webtv.net/tassail/ThomPage |
