It's more about testing the equipment before you get moving, that why the two cycles chock to chock, in forward and reverse gear, to see if the linkage, chain, cable, R&P, hydralics,cotter pin, sheer pin, transmission gear selectors, rudders not fouled, coupling, cutless, et.ect.ect.ect.ect all function properly before you're underway.. and in a bind.
