Hmm, if it were a First 210 or F 211; or the Farr 25, I'd be
all over it. Even a First 24 (swing keel) would be a fun
boat. The F 235 sails pretty well for as roomy as it is, and
is astoningly roomy for a 23 footer... but it ain't never
gonna be mistaken for a sport boat.

Yeah, a Hunter 19 is more fun to sail.....I think it rates 275 or
something. A 235 is rated below 200 in some areas, fast and fun. Doug
bought a Hunter 19 and then went right for his dream, a C&C 121....then
got a trawler instead.

It's more fun to sail a Hunter 19 than to brag about
imaginary sailing on the internet.

Yeah....here's some more "imaginary sailing" Doug!

I really like the 121. Suzanne loves the C&C 99. I had to talk her out
of it until Thomas is older. By then she'll want a C&C 121 and I may
just have to give in.
What did your wife want again??? Oh, yeah....a trawler!

Seems like you have been dominated by women all your life
and cannot grasp any other pattern. If I had really wanted a
C&C 121 I would have bought one. My wife wants to sail & to
cruise with me; and I want to cruise & sail with her. It's
that simple. You cannot understand that, which is why you're
a usenet stalker and blowhard instead of pursuing your dreams.

Maybe you will get a better understanding when your wife not
only has a successful career & happy home life, but has won
at least 3 international medical society awards, won at
least 3 one-design championships, can skippered a boat on
her own for a two week cruise or a 600 mile delivery, and
yet still looks up to your knowledge & skill. Will that ever
happen for you, Bubbles?

Been by there (the old Irby Steel yard in Gulfport) several times to
look at the storm junk. Hard to find something that can be bought at
a price where the finished product could be worth what you would have
to put into it to get it back.

Friend has bid on 12 boats at a max bid price that he thought he
could bring the boat back reasonably, that is, at a better deal than
just buying a like and same boat in reasonable condition, on the used
market. He hasn't won a bid yet.

I think there will be some very disappointed owners when the talley up
what they had to put in the storm salvage junk.

Bingo. That's why they're for sale that way, instead of
being rehabbed on a back lot somewhere.

A lot of these boats have been in the hands of starry-eyed
low-budget dreamers already. I've exchanged emails with
quite a few and maybe one in a 100 has the skills (or the
bloody stick-to-it-ness to learn the skills) to actually put
such a boat into sailing shape; none will ever do the
homework to figure out in advance what it will cost.

But taking these boats ouot of circulation will reduce the
supply and keep up the demand so that the rest of us will be
able to sell our boats one day for more than a pittance.
Thus is The Balance maintained.

No doubt, we seen 100+ storm boats go thru our shipyard...

The same seller who has the benny has this gem in the rough:

Sure is a nice fixer upper.

Go ahead.

The report says the hull is cracked & decks buckled... IMHO
this is a wreck. It has a lot of nice gear & fittings, maybe
Seahag is looking for a 'parts' boat. Lots of folks would
like to have those bronze ports.

I'd be more tempted by something like this
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/45-Cu...QQcmdZViewItem
which is at least an uncracked & unbuckled structure. Still
too much money, considering.
