You call this a fixer upper? Vessel was damaged and submerged during hurricane. The decks buckled. Both hull sides cracked and crushed from deck to water line. Fractures to hull are complete. Teak decking is loose and in poor condition. Windows are in fair condition with some broken. Gauges and controls were all submerged and are in poor condition. Interior of vessel is in complete disarray with mud and debris throughout. All upholstery is wet and muddy and headliner is stained. Vessel has a 1993 32hp Picies diesel 3 cylinder inboard. Engine was submerged and is seized. Yeah, but it would make a great stepping stone DSK |

The report says the hull is cracked & decks buckled... IMHO this is a wreck. It has a lot of nice gear & fittings, maybe Seahag is looking for a 'parts' boat. Lots of folks would like to have those bronze ports. Oh man, if you click on the details you see it is good for nothing but parts, might as well include the cost of a crusher and a dumpster or two I'd be more tempted by something like this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/45-Cu...QQcmdZViewItem which is at least an uncracked & unbuckled structure. Still too much money, considering. But look at that fin, looks like it's been shoved up a bit, and the hull has mushed in and caved around it. Joe DSK |

Too bad it wasn't a steel boat. At least you could get
scrap money for it. Scotty "DSK" wrote in message ... Scotty wrote: You call this a fixer upper? Vessel was damaged and submerged during hurricane. The decks buckled. That's not an unusual shape for a boat of that era designed to the IOR rule... they had flat spots in unusual places, and a hull section shaped like a sherbet glass. Something about the way the rule measured the "sailing length" which was a mathematical way of trying to calculate the waterline when heeled. Despite the weird hull, many boats of this type sail quite well. Other of course have earned the reputation of being broach coaches. At least it has an intact rig & a working engine! Even if the hull is trashed, all those self-tailing winches cost more than $10K new and could probably be resold fairly readily. Anyway, it's a fun game to speculate. I am shopping for something much smaller, simpler, and less demanding of project work. I still have tugboat parts in the garage! DSK |

Both hull sides cracked and crushed from deck to water line. NICE CLEAN BREAK, makes for a nice scab Fractures to hull are complete. That's good...no hidden damage! Teak decking is loose and in poor condition. Little glue and sanding..that's all. Windows are in fair condition with some broken. Glass and glazing compond..10 bucks! Gauges and controls were all submerged and are in poor condition. just rinse them, they will be fine, what and oil and temp gauge cost anyway? 30 bucks each at Auto-Zone. Interior of vessel is in complete disarray with mud and debris throughout. All upholstery is wet and muddy and headliner is stained. Thats good, salvage the hardware, trim ect, make a clean gut, gotta get at the hull to scab the cracks, maybe add a few new stringers anyway. Vessel has a 1993 32hp Picies diesel 3 cylinder inboard. Engine was submerged and is seized. WD 40, emery cloth and a wooden mallet! problem fixed.. Lot's of elbow grease, couple rolls of glass mat, 55 gallon drum of resin, plywwood, and BAM you have a sweet little cruiser...no problem...if you have the spare time :0) Joe |

DSK Looks pretty good from this angle: http://usauctions.com/images/items/F_6232_84050.JPG But this scratch might take a day or more to fix http://usauctions.com/images/items/F_6232_78675.JPG Joe |

Actually, that could be fixed up as good as new... the prep would include building a cradle of full-frame molds to put the hull back into it's intended shape... not a simple of cheap task in itself... but it's not worth the effort or moeny since the rest of the boat is trashed. A shame, at one time that was somebody's dream boat. DSK |
