Scotty,
Do you know how wide a beam I can carry on PA, NJ, Del roads without a permit? And what if I went 10' beam and pulled it home each winter, do you see any problem getting a permit and pulling with my Dodge Ram 2500? Any idea what that permit might cost? (from Chesapeake to Trappe). http://www.russellsmarine.com/precis...-sailboat.html TIA, Scout |

8' 6'' is the 'legal limit'. If you're only doing it a few
times a year, I wouldn't bother with permits. Just don't try to get on the turnpike, especially NJ. Haul it on a Sunday. Avoid any toll booths. Chesapeake City? or the Bay? NJ permits are only $10, good for 3 days. PA is based on weight and miles, some of mine are over $200. However, I found an old one here as low as $26. Good for 7 days. DE, ?? not considered a real state. Oh, and permit loads can't travel from noon Sat, till Monday morning. Nice boat! Call me if you get her. I can advise further. Scotty "Scout" wrote in message . .. Gives ratings for various engines, transmissions, cab styles, rear end gear ratios. I've been told you better derate them about 20% if you are towing long distances particularly in hills. http://www.trailerlife.com/output.cfm?id=42175 Ratings are for towing capacity only. Also need to consider the Gross Combined Vehicle weight rating, which usually derates the total towing capacity. Frank |

And I'd only be pulling it 1 round trip per year. Precision is a nice boat; it's a little big boat, if you know what I mean. My Starwind (Taylor design) was a sailing dream, I just need a bigger bunk to sleep in! Scout |
