Oh my....just found this in the Sailnet archive!
We looked at two CS 27's, both in pretty good shape for their vintage. The second one was as nice as they come, but it's just not an attractive boat at all. To say it appears dated is an understatement. It was ugly when released, so much so that some dealers wouldn't even carry it. We only took one test sail. My wife and I have enough of an eye that the 27 was just too offensive to hang on a mooring. Still, it was another boat to sail and we set out in mostly mild conditions to find that the little CS did sail rather well. There was nothing exciting about it, but it sailed better and felt sturdier than it's appearance might suggest. We thought enough of ourselves to keep looking and finally bought a C&C 29, a better boat in every respect, though a bit more expensive. Charles says that the CS reminded him of a capsized boat, but the C&C is finely shaped and looks as good as it sails...which is better than the smaller CS. The CS languished for quite a while at Brewer and finally sold for 9K. At that price it's probably not a bad starter boat, but I suggest you keep looking. Good luck, Barry & Maria. BWAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!!! OH MY!!!! RB 35s5 NY |

![]() So, BS, I gather it gets to you when I point out that there's no substance to you beyond your toys, eh? Did you point that out? I must've missed it. Here, let me react: Oweeee! You hurt my wittle feelings! If the post is true, 9K is a helluva deal on a CS27 in decent shape. Hey, if you say so. The only interest I see for the CS27 is on the association pages. Everyone likes the 36 though. RB 35s5 NY |

Dave, mon vieux,
We're political/philosophical opponents; but I do respect you acumen and intelligence. So how did you ever let this slip past your filters? "If the post is true, ..." From BS? "True" and BS in the same post. Ack! C'mon, you know better than that! grin Frank |

Dave, Rob is just "jelious" One of the points I try to make with my daughter is that while we live in a country that is said to have a "Judeo-Christian" heritage, that term includes a lot of cross-currents. In particular, the "Christian" part includes a dose of the New Testament's notion that one should lay up his treasure in heaven rather than on earth. The corollary is that in the dominant part of the culture it's considered to be in bad taste, at best, to make much of one's wealth or the cost of his possessions. As a Jew she needs to be sensitive to that sensibility to avoid flaming the fires of anti-semitism. BS apparently never got the memo on that subject. Yeah, just ask Mel Gibson. ![]() |

Sounds like your daughter is very fortunate to have a father like you. The corollary is that in the dominant part of the culture it's considered to be in bad taste, at best, to make much of one's wealth or the cost of his possessions. The bobsprit show of possessions was sickening...to say the least. As a Jew she needs to be sensitive to that sensibility to avoid flaming the fires of anti-semitism. BS apparently never got the memo on that subject. I have friends in Israel. He sails and has a son in the IDF. He is ex-IDF and is subject to being called up. He sent me an e-mail about all of this Hezbollah war stuff before I heard it on FOX news many hours later. I hope the US steps up to the plate and do more for Israel! LP |
