.... I prefer to sail,
Doug. It's really as simple as that.

Then why don't you?

I don't read all your posts (who has time?), but I got the
impression you simply went out on the boat and sat there;
then rushed back to the internet to whine about the lack of
wind. You would have been smarter to go out on a motor boat
for the day.

But then Bubbles... you're not smart, you're nuts!

Yep, that was Sunday. No wind sadly. But we had good sailing on the
other days.

Is that smarter if we don't like powerboats?
People like you just don't get it.
And never will.

Power away, Doug. Suzanne is racing Thursday on a J24. I'll be sailing
with friends into the early evening until she's done. Keep us all
posted on diesel costs!

That's exactly right. I don't want to "get it" as far as
bragging endlessly on the internet.

Good (if true). Best way to learn how.

BTW keep us posted on the name/# and results of the boat
she's sailing on. Those of us who actually sail in the real
world keep up with such things, and aren't afraid to post
the results.

Still, I have to question why Doug, who has no sailboat at all, let
alone a fast one, is posting in a thread about why his "powerboat makes
sense."
Really really odd.

But funny!

1- because of this

2- because for our usage (and a lot of other people who
won't admit it) the power boat *does* make sense!

Really really odd.

This has the potential to be one of the great trolls of all time.

Why?

Honesty! Compliments! Admitting the 35s5 may not be the fastest!

This may get ugly folks.

I am so glad I don't own a boat or even sail!

Amen!

PDQ 36: Jeff's PDQ may not point or tack as well as my 35s5 or Donal's
33.7, but for flat out speed it's unmatched my the monohulls here. We
should take note that Joe reports his 43 foot motorsailor is faster
with a hull speed (he claims!) of 13 knots.

Beneteau First 33.7: It's hard to know if Donal's 33.7 is faster than
my 35s5, but with her slightly longer LWL and deep draft I feel that
she may be a hair faster with both boats on an optimum reach.

Beneteau First 35s5: I've topped 10 knots and I can confirm Donal's
reports on these boats having truly exciting speed potential. My
Pearson 30 and C&C 32 were fun, responsive boats, but the 35s5 is like
a starship compared to my old shuttle crafts.

Express 30: It may be dated and ugly, but the Express 30 is fast enough
to keep pace with many larger boats. She's really only a hair slower
than the Beneteau's above and is stellar in a round the cans format. If
not for her lines and interior, she'd be a legend. Oh well.

Kirie Elite 32: Yup, while Katie probably turtles about, the Elite is
actually a pretty quick boat.

And THAT'S IT. The rest of you have tired, dilapidated nautical
footnotes that can't get out of their own way. Crippled Sea Cucumbers
laugh as they pass you. You find yourself saying things like, "She
really does well in a blow," and "She'd surprise you."
Yeah, okay.

Hmmmm. Nice boat. I didn't know you currently owned a sailboat.

Oh, so I'm sure everyone who won't admit a trawler makes sense, is
still wondering why you need to talk about in a thread about fast
sailboats. And your trawler doesn't make sense to anyone who doesn't
like trawlers, Doug. And most sailors I meet don't like powerboats
much. "Sense" has little to do with boat choice, Doug.
No wonder you power. Sailing is about passion, whether you're a lake
sailor or crossing the Atlantic. It's NOT about the mechanics of
sensible water passages.

Only to those with no ability to comprehend.

You're still yapping about a trawler in a SAILING thread fer cripes
sake!!! BWAHAHAHAHA! Yep, doug, you got a good handle on things.

Because you are continually bringing up the fact that I own
a trawler.

ancient history...

If you want to capture the feeling of ownership, you can
come over, help me sand & varnish. Or if you'd rather,
another ongoing project is laying up carbon fiber on the new
dinghy.
