Default Green vs Blue

I was wondering if the green water, which is admittedly less appealing than
blue (to me), has been exasperated by our nasty, polluting ways. Or has the
Jersey shore has been green for many millennia?

Maybe the water is always bluer on the other side.

Water color is usually the result of the type of algae that is growing in
the water...Lake Michigan has a very specific algae that blooms in
September
making the llake the mst beautiful teal blue color while it is usually
stone gray or olive green during the other months.

My ocean is green and has been for as long as I can recall. Bob posted

pics
of blue water just over yonder from me. What makes the difference between
the two?
