Also: You might want to try actually sitting in the Sienna...worst seats of all the minivans. Only 3 year warranty. 3 years or 30 Kmiles. Yet people buy their cars. Toyota-soon to be largest car manufacturer in US history! or as you Autobytel says.... http://www.autobytel.com/content/sha...le_id_int/1078 And if that's too many pages to read, here are some highlights... "Making a minivan stylish is a difficult task accomplished by few, but with the 2006 Sedona, Kia gets it exactly right." Style is absolute. "Most impressive, however, is the leather that's optional in the EX. It feels really good - soft, smooth, almost plush, yet the seat is perfectly supportive." Corinthian leather? Where's Ricardo Montalban? What was he selling - Chryslers? "In terms of control layout, the 2006 Kia Sedona's buttons, knobs, and displays are all clearly marked, large, and operate with the dampened heft and refinement of a luxury car. The end result is the impression of quality, and of designers who bothered to take the time to consider how a minivan is really used." Especially those leather seats and kids! "Coil springs manage body motion, and stabilizer bars help limit body roll. Kia's suspension tuner, Gordon Dickie, aimed for a blend of the Honda Odyssey's taut responsiveness and the Toyota Sienna's soft cushiness, and we'd say he succeeded. " Firmly in the middle! "Sedona offers the most powerful engine in the class, a new aluminum 3.8-liter V6 equipped with 24 valves and dual continuously variable valve timing (CVVT). This new V6 makes 244 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 253 lb.-ft. of torque at 3,500 rpm when running on premium unleaded. So it needs to run on premium unleaded? 6,000 RPM? That's more horsepower and torque than Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, GM, Honda, Mazda, Nissan and Toyota offer in a minivan." So? "Even when cruising at 80 mph on grooved pavement, road and engine noise were virtually absent. In our experience, only the Toyota Sienna comes close to delivering this kind of cabin isolation, and at comparatively higher prices." The Sienna costs less! "As a result, the 2006 Sedona brings to market the best and brightest ideas from other manufacturers in a handsomely designed package. All that's left to ensure market success, at this writing, is top-notch crash-test scores." Kia leads by following! 2006 Sedona leads EVERY minivan in crash tests and rollover. Expect Toyota and Honda to respond quickly to this challenge. For the first time the Koreans realyy have everyone on the run to design a market segment. Rollover tests were not done using traction control. The Toyota traction and stability control is far superior to Kia's. It may lead, but by how much? The real crash test is when the insurance cuts the check for your totaled car. After 3 years the check will be much bigger for the Toyota than the Kia, and the Toyota costs less! |

![]() Rollover tests were not done using traction control. The Toyota traction and stability control is far superior to Kia's. It may lead, but by how much? The Toyota and Kia have nearly identical systems, but the Kia's has dual sensors on each wheel to detect spin and pressures (Like Subaru), while the Toyota continues to use the more primitive system. Bad research by Bob C. again. The real crash test is when the insurance cuts the check for your totaled car. After 3 years the check will be much bigger for the Toyota than the Kia, and the Toyota costs less! That's great, but I'd rather pass on that bigger check and have the safer van by a mile. The Toyota comes in 3rd! They should send the check first! Kia Sedona is BEST in class by a wide margin. Think about it, even the old crappy Sedona was judged safer. The 2006 with it's ladder frame beat those original numbers! RB 35s5 NY |

No, I'm just applying your criteria. Why? Toyota makes a great car. So does Honda. Now Kia has also started making some excellent cars. Only time will tell. Why is this a problem for you? It's not. I want to have even more choice in excellent cars. It's not my fault US cars suck. You mean GM, Ford or Chrysler. Remember Toyota is American made. Especially those leather seats and kids! Yup, easy clean up and no stains compared to the horrible cloths. Nope. Seeping wounds do a number on leather, as does screwdrivers. aimed for a blend of the Honda Odyssey's taut responsiveness and the Toyota Sienna's soft cushiness, and we'd say he succeeded. " Firmly in the middle! Yup, everyone seems to prefer the Kia's handling, including Tridata review. Toyota came in last! We'll see what is preferred three years down the road - in resale value. No, we're did you read that. It takes a 2HP hit when using regular, but still gallops faster than all others and has better torque throughout the range. It takes a bigger hit. That's more horsepower and torque than Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, GM, Honda, Mazda, Nissan and Toyota offer in a minivan." So? So? Good lord. So? Is it better? "Even when cruising at 80 mph on grooved pavement, road and engine noise were virtually absent. In our experience, only the Toyota Sienna comes close to delivering this kind of cabin isolation, and at comparatively higher prices." The Sienna costs less! Nope, loaded up like a fully loaded EX it's 4.5K more...and you STILL miss features that the Kia has! You're looking at base prices. And add another couple of grand for that extended warranty, which is dealer only! Sienna costs less! "As a result, the 2006 Sedona brings to market the best and brightest ideas from other manufacturers in a handsomely designed package. All that's left to ensure market success, at this writing, is top-notch crash-test scores." Kia leads by following! Just like Toyota did when they challenged the Caravan when it was king! Don't forget the 25% tariff slapped on Toyota minivans at the time. Ummmmm....KERBLAM!!! Man....you didn't even score ONE POINT!!!! Seriously...I can do MUCH better if I play the other side! No you can't. I am in a weakened state. It's 95-105F outside, I've been running and cycling up mountains for hours on end each day and don't quite have the time or energy to do a total smackdown of you. The only things KIA has are good reviews and the potential to be a good car. A few years time will show if it is. Toyota will krush KIA. KRUSH!!! |

![]() So I need to do what everyone else does? No, I'm just applying your criteria. Actually, you're not. It's not. I want to have even more choice in excellent cars. Looks like the Koreans mean business. You mean GM, Ford or Chrysler. Remember Toyota is American made. It is made IN America IN PART, but it's not an American car. Nope. Seeping wounds do a number on leather, as does screwdrivers. Seeping wounds are more likely in a Sienna with it's inferior safety ratings and performance. As for Screwdrivers...none of us are drinkers. We'll see what is preferred three years down the road - in resale value. Three years down the road the cars we're discussed will be "old" and the Toyota out of warranty. The Kia will have 2 years left bumper to bumper and 10 on the powertrain! It takes a bigger hit. No one has noted a difference. We did get slightly better MPG in premium, but power was still excellent on regular. So? Is it better? Yup, Suzanne said the Sienna felt underpowered and taxed when she got on the throttle. I agreed. It needs more torque. Sienna costs less! Please show everyone where a Sienna, loaded to the same level as a loaded Sedona EX costs LESS. Don't forget the 25% tariff slapped on Toyota minivans at the time. Toyota still coppied. They all did and still do. Kia's just doing it very very well. No you can't. I am in a weakened state. Puh-lease. It's pretty hard for you to bash a van with rave reviews and no service history and a 10 year warranty! You've done a terrible job, tired or not. RB 35s5 NY |

Can't you guys get it through your heads that the leopard has changed its
spots? Kia hasn't even been sued over its failure to honor the warranty on the 2006 models. All the complaints and suits are over last year's models and older Sedonas. Damn you idiots who refuse to believe in redemption. -- jlrogers±³© "Capt. Rob" wrote in message oups.com... Toyota may cost a few thousand more, but after 4 years it has over double the resale value of a Kia! We're talking 8K$! Such poor research, Bob. I'm really shocked you could be so sloppy. The 2006 Kia is an all new minivan and no resale data is available for it yet. Judging by the fact that it is currently a huge hit for them and getting great reviews, it's likely resale will be better. That said, few cars can match a Toyota in that area. RB 35s5 NY |
