Anyone; Does anyone know the Phrf rating on the Kent Ranger 20? With and wihout "Flying Sails" Maxprop wrote: One source shows Ranger 22s and 23s to be in the range between 231 and 240. Very very very very different boats ![]() Actually the Ranger 22 and 23 are quite different from each other although they were designed by the same designer and built by the same builder. The Ranger 20 (often called the Kent Ranger because of where it was built, to distinguish it from the California or Jensen Rangers) is a native PacNW product. The company is still in business although they currently build a trailerable tugboat, not sailboats. I'd suspect the 20 to be similar or slightly higher. But that's just a guess--I couldn't find any PHRF ratings for the Ranger 20, Kent or otherwise. The ratings listed for the R-20 are 222 and 224, the one(s) in NC race at 222 which I feel is sandbagging a little. I've raced at two clubs where these boats sail and they can (if well handled) almost keep up with a Lightning in moderate (non-planing) conditions. I have also seen them sail out of these clubs in 25+ knot winds. Impressive little boats! Fresh Breezes- Doug King |
