Dave,
Cripes! Clear your damn head! If your foreign source for fuel is drying up and you have a domestic source of fuel to replace it, why not develop it? If developing it is good for our economy, why not develop that Source? Dave, a little history lesson. When Petroleum was first discovered ( Rock Oil) it's main source of use was for Lamp Oil. It had a funny smell to it and the americans preferred Whale Oil. We shipped the "Rock Oil" to Europe in wooden barrels on wooden sailing ships. We had all the known petroleum here in the United States and shipped it away. When the first cars were built more were probably run on Alcohol than on Gasoline. Gasoline being cheaper replaced alcohol. At the time Gasoline was a Straight Run product and about the same as Alky. Thru development gasoline was reformulated to increase its available and also its power and left Alcohol in the dust. Now that gasoline had jumped in cost, alcohol turn to return and be developed. Ethanol is just the beginning of a long road of development of Alcohol Fuels. It isn't a full replacement. Not yet. It is however a source of Fuel to help us become Energy Independent. Dave,, I'm sure you heard the statement; "We can turn our food into fuel, let the Arabs eat their oil!" http://community.webtv.net/tassail/ThomPage |
