Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die

It would be best if you gave Mary Frye her due...

If I knew it I would have. Nice poem

We had to put down our last dog Simone, the schitzu. We adopeted him
from an animal shelter when he was 8 years old and had him till he was
21, Terry still misses him.. We got Skipper a couple mo. later.

When I was still in the pet business, I had to deal with loss
frequently. I found, over the years, that it is much better to
anticipate and find a replacement before the event occurs. One of
the reasons I suggest this, and most vets will concur, is that a
sick or aged pet will extend their life when a puppy is introduced.
Another is that the hole that is left is not so great. Barring
that, filling that hole soon is also IMO, the better way to go,
remembering that the new pet is NOT the old pet.

That's a good point. During the past century the mean

human life expectancy
has increased nearly 20 years. During that same period

the various breeds
of dogs have netted a year, if that, on average.

But that equals 7 years, really.

That means they have to come up with another two years to equal what has
been done for humans.

My buddy's neigbor had two Boxers which soon had a
litter of five. They kept all the puppies, and we called
it "The Hoard". It was a great sight to see and hear
when "The Hoard" attacked!
