I've sailed both places and the LIS is definitely much better sailing
waters. It's got history, it is very clean for being so close to a big city and the sailing capital of the world, Newport Rhode Island lies at its eastern end. It is a beautiful place. Clear Lake, or Galveston Bay is a large industrial based port. You can sail there, there's good sailing but it doesn't have history and the ambience clings to the hull. Texas has a longer season, but the Sound is of much greater quality. It's like comparing caviar to salmon egg fishbait. Texas = Cowboys Long Island = Yachtsmen My two cents, Lloyd |
