Scotty,
After sailing a 79, do you think I could even look a one and not laugh?

Good advice, let me just add, whatever you do, don't get
fooled into buying a Mac 26M. You'll regret it, BIG TIME!

Well, of course the 26M is a great boat, and its adjustable draft (around
5.5 to 2 ft) would come in handy in the bay at low tide. Actually, though,
it's not really necessary for you to go that far upscale. - The S2 would
be almost as good, and it will probably do just fine around Corpus. Just
be careful to watch your chart and check those tide tables. (Incidentally,
pay no attention to Scotty. - He obviously has problems, yet he refuses to
get professional help.)

Before you make a decision, I think you ought to check out
typical prices on boats such as yours in Michigan and compare that with
the prices of those available in Corpus or Houston (which is a short
trip from Corpus), less the costs of bringing your boat down. -
It's pretty easy to do on yachtworld.com or the like, and you will find
that there are lots of boats for sale here. For example, if you will
be sailing offshore extensively, you might want to think about a
somewhat larger boat. Of

course, if your boat is in good condition and you're

particularly attached to it, that's another factor.

I am hoping for some genuine help from a native guide.

My wife just got a new assignment in Corpus Christi. I

can’t think of

any good reason to try to stay in Michigan and watch

while the economy

here circles the drain.

We have an S2-7.9 on a trailer that we got to race and

trailer cruise.

I know longer own a tow-vehicle and have gotten by

borrowing one for local moves.

I have found a J-24 fleet, but can not identify much

other keel boat

racing and the charts (nice- have the available on the

web now) do not

look like there is much cruising ground.

Question: Is it worth my while to drag this boat to

Corpus Christi/Rockford?
