He must mean pay not cost, Katy.

That is what he is paying each expert sailor per day to help keep
his boat off the rocks.

Why would you post that here? Everyone has a boat and many have
access to tall ships where they can crew for free or get paid. Why
would anyone want to pay to crew your boat???
