Really... the USA ain't that great a place! Canada is mind you!

There are myriad places in the USA that are gorgeous, and I never tire of
visiting them. And the job/career/business opportunities here are
probably
greater in number and scope than those in Canada. But neither is really
important. I simply don't want to be told I cannot go someplace where I
should reasonably be able to go. So far I haven't found such a place.

Try taking a sailboat to Cuba..... yeah, I know, you don't actually
want to go there, so it doesn't count. Riiiiiight.

First: I'd love to sail to Cuba, and plan to do so someday. Second, I am
able to sail to Cuba, provided I spend no money there, and have a sponsor
who lives there. Both points are easily dealt with, especially if one
doesn't mind jousting with the INS upon returning to the US. Third, I can
always drive into Canada and take a flight to Havana.

Oh, OK - you define going thru all that crap as complying with
'reasonably be able to go'. I don't. Doubt many other people would
agree with you, either.

Want me to bring you
some good cigars?

Nah, I got a brain and quit smoking 30 years ago. Send them to Donal,
he'll need them to soothe his outrage when smoking is banned in public
places over there soon. He won't be able to dump his butts on the
beaches any more.

Yep, I read about that and Bavaria's rep plumetted. I

still think they
are generally good boats, but I've seen a few late models

go cheap,
including a 36 in CT. The reason is that they have a very

limited rep
here and stories like the one above don't help of course.

If Ozzy paid
under 80K he still go a good deal, though I probably would

have gone
with a faster boat.

''a faster boat'', that's funny!

Most certainly...... matter of fact we regularly have Fidel drop by to
Canada. It's usually arranged by a secret government department who's only
purpose is to devise nefarious and cunning ways to **** off the USA!

I understand they track all US citizens going to Cuba via Montreal or
Toronto and send the data to the USA's Homeland Security office. This
probably goes far to explain why almost every US citizen returning from Cuba
is interrogated and fined despite the fact that Cuba is very accommodating
and doesn't stamp US passports. Must be great to live in such a bastion of
freedom... Eh?

Can you follow the fricken logic here?? I can't.!

...and you have yet to provide one plausible reason that would require me
to enter the USA!

1) You might take a job someday that requires travel in the US.
2) One of your friends or relatives might be involved in an auto accident in
the US, and you'd be called upon to intercede on their behalf.
3). Scotty and I might come up there, hog tie you, put a bag over your head,
knock you unconscious, and allow you to find yourself regaining
consciousness in Laredo, TX, in the barrios.

Do you see the word "reasonably" anywhere in my post? The word *reasonable*
never entered my mind as applied to our government's attitude toward Cuba.
Don't put words in my mouth. I said it could be done. Someone implied that
it could not.

I've never smoked--not tobacco, anyway--and have no intention to start. But
Cuban cigars seem, for some reason, to bring top dollar on the black market
these days

Relax, JR. There is a general rule regarding those who love to rip on the
United States: they choose to visit here because of the substantial
quantity of resources and attractions we have to offer, and they
subsequently discover that this really is not an unsafe place to be,
provided you don't stupidly or deliberately put yourself in harm's way.
To
the contrary they discover that their vacations come off without a hitch,
are enjoyable, and often exceed their expectations.

Of course, You have a beautiful country with scenery and possibility
for adventure that is absolutely astounding.
Unfortunately you also have sewers like Los Angeles.

Of course they return home and resume their diatribe against the USA.
Their
like-minded friends just love to hear how awful and dangerous this country
is.

You need to get out more....

Then there's Mooron, who's worried about retinal scans and such. I think
he
must have something in his past that he doesn't want uncovered. g

Either that or he is happy where he is

That is certainly reasonable.

and unwilling to go through the
charade of US Customs and Security.

Get a life. We go through it every time we board a plane. It's a minor
inconvenience, if stupidly ineffective and annoying. But for Mooron to deny
himself of the wonderful places and opportunities this country has to offer,
strictly on principle or to avoid being inconvenienced in a minor way, is
penalizing only him. None of us give a rat's posterior if he enters the US
or not.

Don't make the mistake of attributing the asinine policies of our government
to the citizens of this country. Most of us have nothing against Cuba.
Nothing quite like a mohito on a hot summer day to quench a thirst.

To visit Katy and me!

Seahag
(and bring the li'l birdie:^)

Tell you both what... if you ever decide to visit Nova
Scotia, I'll place Overproof at Mahone Bay for your use.
You'd both love the laid back attitude and down home
friendly locals. Fresh Fruit & Veg Markets, Sunday swap
meet and Flea Market at the local Store Parking lot. Great
Marina with free tender service, free showers and all
vessels to a mooring.

I won't be heading to the USA... personal choice. I don't
generally frequent counties with a "Big Brother is
Watching You" attitude, "Jack-Booted" security tactics and
a standard "Yellow Alert" Status.... it's just too much
of a hassle.

If things change in the USA..... and I did ever go down
there... I would make certain to visit both of you. :-)

Dang, sounds sweet! Thanks!

Seahag
