Default Stolen Sailboats in the USA

Stolen Sailboat Statistics: Coast Guard List 1989-2002. Includes
builders where greater than 20 vessels were reported stolen.

Most stolen sailboats:

Beneteau-221 vessels stolen, 188 recovered
Tartan-39 vessels stolen, 33 recovered
Catalina-94 vessels stolen, 91 recovered
J Boat-66 vessels stolen, 65 recovered


Least Stolen Sailboats:

Coronado-1 vessel stolen, vessel sunk during recovery due to force 6
conditions.
Siedlemann-1 vessel stolen, 1 vessel recovered when mentally
handicapped thief committed suicide trying to sail in 3 foot seas.
Kirie Elite-2 vessels stolen, both sunk before recovery due to severe
oil-canning.
Nordica-1 30 foot vessel stolen, 1 vessel reovered when thier was
unable to escape due to poor condition of boat. Thief was caught in
middle of a rebuild.

I dunno....I own a Beneteau now, though unlike you I did research and
bought a good one.

Hmmm ...

If the Pearson is such a good boat, then I'm really surprised that nobody
tried to steal one!

Perhaps the Pearson is renowned for its security??
